Chapéu Mangueira is a favela community in Rio de Janeiro, above Leme and Copacabana beaches. The premium location and the UPP (Pacifying Police Unit – Portuguese: Unidade de Polícia Pacificadora) make it a popular destination among gringos (tourists) that want to experience a different vibe in the so called “Marvellous City” (Cidade Maravilhosa, a song recorded in 1935 that has became the anthem of the city).
